Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is Direct Specialty Care (DSC)?
DSC is a healthcare model where patients access specialist care directly without relying on insurance authorization, network restrictions, or traditional referrals.
2. Who is eligible for a virtual physiatry visit?
Most adults with musculoskeletal, neurologic, or functional rehab needs are eligible. This includes amputees, individuals with chronic pain, or those in need of rehab planning and documentation.
3. What documents are required before my appointment?
We require relevant medical records, imaging, and lab results at least 24–48 hours before your visit. Without this, the appointment may be rescheduled or canceled.
4. Do you prescribe medications or order tests?
Yes. Our board-certified physiatrists may recommend medications, imaging, lab work, or referrals. A copy of all documentation will be provided to the patient.
5. How is this different from a typical specialist visit?
There are no insurance hurdles, network delays, or multiple hand-offs. Visits are faster, more focused, and structured around your immediate and long-term goals.
6. Are these services covered by insurance?
No. We operate on a transparent, self-pay model. Patients receive documentation and invoices for their records, but insurance reimbursement is not guaranteed.
7. Do you offer in-person care?
Most visits are virtual. Interventional services and musculoskeletal ultrasound are offered in person when clinically appropriate (*subject to availability*).
